The Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database stores data and information related to experiments (e.g. 2D Gels, antibodies,...) in laboratories as discussed in the BxLabtm Process Flow description. All samples are managed using unique barcodes which provide unique identifiers for associating information, tracking steps in the process, linking to analysis results and reporting status. An important design concept is that the databases is designed to be integrated with the Knowledge databases to facilitate different methods of analysis, data mining and report generation scenarios.
The architecture of the Lab Database System is described in the Documents Section under BxLabtm Process Flow. The Hardware Configurations document describes different computer configurations that can be used for this system.
