Samples

Samples come from different sources and may represent different clinical states. Each sample is assigned an internal tracking ID and is associated with a project for grouping. All characteristics of the sample such as species, gender, race, age, type of sample,  tissue, disease, stage of disease, amount, demographic data, quantity should be stored within the database for the purposes of enabling complex queries and interpretation of analysis such as clustering. Also, if the sample is put into different aliquots and stored in different areas under different conditions then this information must also be linked to the tracking ID. In addition if a sample is to be analyzed using different experimental methods such as microarrays, mass spectrometry, 2D gels, Eliza, etc. then the aliquots need to be associated with the experimental method.

The sample data entry views  in this section are for logging samples, maintaining a lab book for each sample and assigning assay protocols to each sample.
